'Archives and Libraries in Belgium' (ABB) adresses issues that archivists and librarians face in their daily work and aims at tightening the bonds between the two professions. On Friday 13 December 2019, ABB examines the developments in access to archive and library collections, such as the ‘googlisation’ of research, on the occasion of a colloquium at the Royal Library of Belgium. You can expect a kaleidoscope of approaches and exeriences, with a recurrent theme however: the central place of users.
In addition to Tuesday and Friday, the reading rooms of the State Archives in Liège, Mons and Namur will be open on Saturday 6 April 2019 from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm and from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm. On Saturday, you can consult original documents only after prior reservation via e-mail or phone before Friday 1.00 pm at the State Archives in question. You can also consult our digitised maps, plans and photographs and use the search engines and microfilms.
The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) organized a conference about open science on Wednesday 23 October 2019. The SODA team was there to present our project, whose goals of preserving research data and making them available for reuse is a concrete effort towards a more open science.
